Powerball Texas – Texas Lottery Powerball
The Texas Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball game – in this particular case the Texas Powerball – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.
Powerball is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run & syndicated across the USA by the MUSL – Multi State Lottery Association – and is one of the largest lottery games in the world having produced a record jackpot of an incredible US$ 1.58 BILLION in January 2016. This is the biggest lottery jackpot ever won to date in the history of jackpot lottery games and easily beat the Mega Millions US$ 656 MILLION record jackpot from March 2012.
The very first Powerball draw took place on April 22nd 1992 with 16 USA Lottery companies – who were all members of the MUSL – taking part after the game changed its format and name from Lotto America which had originally started on February 13th 1988.
The Texas Power Ball was first sold on January 31st 2010 when the Mega Millions consortium – of which the Texas Lottery is a member – entered into a cross-selling agreement with the MUSL – allowing the sales of Powerball tickets in Mega Millions states and Mega Millions tickets in Powerball states.
Texas Powerball – How It Works
The Texas Powerball works in the same way as the Powerball works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by at least US$ 10 Million each time – making for some enormous jackpot figures. making for some enormous jackpot figures.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the Texas Lottery Power Ball game from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 59 white balls are drawn and then 39 red balls (Power Balls) are drawn.
Draws for the Powerball Texas take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.59pm CST (8.59pm MST).
There is also a Powerball prize multiplier facility available when playing that dramatically increases the size of a Powerball win and is called Powerball POWERPLAY.
POWERPLAY…
The Powerball POWERPLAY option is a fixed prize multiplier and will automatically increase the Powerball win to at least double the original amount – and is there to give players of the Texas Power Ball a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the TX Powerball jackpot itself.
With the Powerball POWER PLAY option – you are easily able to multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x or 4x – greatly increasing the amount you will walk away with.
A Powerball non-jackpot 2nd prize win of US$ 1 Million, for example, will be immediately doubled to US$ 2 Million when playing the Power Ball Texas using this Powerball POWERPLAY facility.
Texas Powerball – How to Play
The aim when playing is to correctly select as many Powerball winning numbers as possible – and with 9 different ways in which you can win on the Powerball Texas – you have a great chance of winning a prize.
There are principally 4 ways you can play the TX Powerball…
1. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 59 plus your 1 Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 35.
2. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 59 and use the Quick Pick option to let the computer choose your Power Ball (red ball) number for you from 1 to 35 – using a computer generated random number generator.
3. Use the Quick Pick option to let the computer pick your 5 main
(white ball) numbers from 1 to 59 using a random number generator – and then choose your own Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 35.
4. Use the Quick Pick option available to let the computer choose both your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 59 and also your 1 Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 35 using its random number generator.

POWERPLAY…
For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your Texas Power Ball winnings on all levels except the jackpot itself – by adding the Powerball POWER PLAY option when you are playing the Power Ball Texas.
If your chosen Texas Powerball numbers match the Powerball winning numbers on any of these 8 prize levels – you immediately increase your winnings by either 2, 3 or 4 times – depending on what TX Powerball prize you have won.
If you are lucky enough to match all 5 of the main Powerball winning numbers – the POWERPLAY multiplier will immediately double your prize to US$ 2 MILLION.

Texas Powerball – Record Jackpots
The biggest Texas Powerball jackpot win so far has been a huge top prize of US$ 188.33 Million won on February 11th 2015 by a ticket purchased in Princeton. This was a one third share of the massive US$ 564.1 Million jackpot for that drawing – the other lucky winners coming from North Carolina and Puerto Rico.
The 2nd largest Texas Powerball jackpot win to date occurred when Paul McDowell from Ravenna in North East Texas won the 1st TX Powerball top prize at US$ 40 Million on May 29th 2013.
There have also been winners of Powerball 2nd prizes such as Jeffrey G.Daly from Austin, Texas who won a US$ 1 Million Powerball 2nd prize on May 19th 2012 and immediately doubled his winnings to US$ 2 Million as he had played using the Powerball POWERPLAY option.
Texas Powerball – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won a Texas Powerball jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this choice when you purchase your ticket.
If you choose the annuity option – your Texas Lottery Power Ball winnings will be paid to you annually over a 30 year period.
For all prizes on the Powerball Texas – you will have 180 days from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your Texas Powerball ticket will become invalid.
If your win on the Texas Powerball Lottery is up to US$ 599 – you will be able to claim your winnings from any Texas State Lottery retailer, from a TX Lottery local claim center, from the Texas Lottery Commission Headquarters in Austin or by mail.
If you’ve had a win of between US$ 600 to US$ 1 Million on the TX Powerball – you will be able to claim your prize from a TX Lottery local claim center, from the Texas Lottery Commission Headquarters in Austin or by mail.
