Washington Powerball – Powerball WA
The Washington State Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball game – in this case the Washington Powerball – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.
Powerball is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run & syndicated across the USA by the MUSL – Multi State Lottery Association – and is one of the largest lottery games in the world having produced a record jackpot in January 2016 of an incredible US$ 1.58 BILLION. This is the biggest lottery jackpot ever won to date in the history of jackpot lottery games and completely outshone the existing US$ 656 MILLION Mega Millions jackpot record set in March 2012.
The very first Powerball draw took place on April 22nd 1992 with 16 USA Lottery companies – who were all members of the MUSL – taking part after the game changed its format and name from Lotto America which had originally started on February 13th 1988.
Washington Powerball tickets were first put on sale back on January 31st 2010 when the Mega Millions consortium – of which the Washington State Lottery is a member – entered into a cross-selling agreement with the MUSL – thus allowing lotto ticket sales of the Powerball Lottery within US Mega Millions States and the Mega Millions Lottery within Powerball States.
Powerball Washington – How it Works
The Washington Powerball works in exactly the same way as the Powerball game works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by at least US$ 10 Million each time – making for some enormous jackpot figures.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the Washington State Power Ball from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers are drawn from 59 white balls and then 1 number (the Powerball) is drawn from 35 red balls.
Draws for the Washington Power Ball take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7.59 PST (9.59pm MST).

POWERPLAY…
For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your Washington State Power Ball winnings on all levels except the jackpot – by adding the Powerball POWER PLAY option when playing the Powerball Washington.

Washington Powerball – Record Jackpots
The biggest win to date on the Powerball Washington has been the fantastic US$ 90 MILLION jackpot on November 29th 2014 which was won by Lisa N.Quam fom Auburn.
The 2nd largest prize to have been won so far was claimed by Rodney Worthington of Kennewick who won US$ 2 MILLION on July 16th 2012.

Powerball Washington – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won a Washington State Powerball jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this important choice within 60 days of the date of your claim.
If you choose the annuity option – your Washington Powerball winnings will be paid to you in 30 installments over a 29 year period.
You will have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim your Powerball Washington prize before your ticket becomes invalid.
If your win on the Washington Power Ball is up to US$ 600 – you will be able to claim your winnings at any of the Washington Lottery retailers or by mail to the WA State Lottery Headquarters in Olympia.
If you’ve had a win from US$ 601 to US$ 100 Million on the Powerball Washington – you will be able to claim your prize at one of the Washington Lottery regional offices.
