Ohio Lottery Powerball
The Ohio Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball game – in this particular case the Ohio Powerball – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.
Powerball is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run & syndicated across the USA by the Multi State Lottery Association – MUSL – and is one of the largest lottery games in the world having produced a staggering US$ 1.58 BILLION record jackpot in January 2016. Powerball Ohio – How it Works
The Ohio Powerball works in the same way as the Powerball game works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by at least US$ 10 Million each time – making for some enormous jackpot figures.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the Ohio Lottery Powerball game from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers are drawn from 59 white balls and then 1 number (the Powerball) is drawn from 35 red balls.
Draws for the Powerball Ohio take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10.59pm EST.

1. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 59 plus your 1 Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 35.

POWERPLAY…
For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your Ohio Power Ball winnings on all levels except the jackpot itself – by adding the Powerball POWER PLAY option when you are playing the Powerball Ohio.

Powerball Ohio – Record Jackpots
The biggest jackpot so far to be won on the Ohio Lottery Powerball has been US$ 261 Million on the June 2nd 2010 draw – just 48 days after the Ohio Lottery first began selling Powerball tickets on April 16th of that year.
This jackpot milestone in the history of the Ohio State Lottery was won anonymously by the "2010 Blind Trust" from a ticket purchased in Sunbury.
The 2nd highest Ohio Powerball jackpot win to date occurred on July 9th 2014 when the jackpot had risen to US$ 124.9 Million.
The 3rd largest Powerball jackpot to be won in Ohio occured only 3 weeks later when the "Lucky 13 Plus One" group scooped a top prize of US$ 48.45 Million on June 23rd 2010 – a half share of the jackpot of US$ 97 Million which was split with another winning ticket in Montana.
The "Lucky 13 Plus One" – a group of 14 workers from a Chrysler plant in Detroit, Michigan have one member from Ohio – William Shanteau who purchased the lucky ticket in Curtrice, OH.
Powerball Ohio – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won an Ohio Powerball jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this choice within 60 days of the date of your claim.
If you choose the annuity option – your Ohio Lottery Powerball winnings will be paid to you in 30 installments over a 29 year period.
For all prizes on the Powerball Ohio – you will have 180 days from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your OH Powerball ticket will become invalid.
If your win on the Powerball Ohio is up to US$ 599 – you will be able to claim your winnings at any of the Ohio Lottery retailers.
If you’ve had a win of between US$ 600 to US$ 5,000 on the Ohio Powerball you will be able to claim your prize by going to any of the OhioLottery retailers who will give you a Pay To Bearer ticket plus claim form and either – proceeding to a bank cashing loaction or mailing the claim form in for payment.
If you have won more than US$ 5,000 or an Ohio Powerball Jackpot – you can claim your prize by contacting the nearest Ohio State Lottery regional office and arranging to make your claim in person.
