Sweet Million – New York Lottery

New York Lottery Sweet Million – Overview

The Sweet Million Lottery was one of the newer lottery games to have been introduced by the NY Lottery and was a traditional draw-type lotto game that was popular amongst lottery players in New York plus further afield in the USA – even globally.

The NY Lottery unveiled its Sweet Million Lotto game back in 2009 with the first draw taking place on September 17th – the first new lottery to have been launched by the New York Lottery since 2002.

The aim of introducing this particular New York Lottery was to provide a game to NY Lottery players that had a lower range of numbers from which to choose and therefore naturally offered much better than normal odds of actually winning the lottery.

The Sweet Million Lottery was drawn twice every week by the New York State Lottery – on both Mondays and Thursdays with draws taking place at 9.30pm EST.

Unlike other jackpot lottery type games – the New York Lottery Sweet Million jackpot was set at US$ 1 MILLION and did not rollover when it was not won. Instead when there were more than 5 jackpot lottery winners – a top prize of US$ 5 MILLION was shared equally.

The Sweet Million Lottery was discontinued by the New York Lottery on June 12th 2014 when it was replaced by Cash4Life.

NY Sweet Million Lotto – How it Works

The Sweet Million Lottery used a single matrix of 6/40 which means that when you played the Sweet Million Lotto you needed to choose your 6 numbers out of a range of numbers from 1 to 40.

If you successfully matched all 6 of the lottery numbers drawn by the New York Lottery you would be one of the lucky winners of a cool US$ 1 MILLION Sweet Million top prize.

NY Sweet Million – How Prizes are Paid

If you had won a New York Lottery Sweet Million jackpot – you will have receivd your prize as a one time payment in the form of a cash lump sum.

You will have needed to make your winning claim within 365 days of the lotto draw taking place before your NY Lottery ticket will have become invalid.

If you had won anything up to US$ 600 on the New York Lottery Sweet Million – you would have been able to claim your winnings at any of the New York Lottery retailers or by mail.

If you’d had a win of between US$ 601 to US$ 500,000 on the Sweet Million Lotto – you would have been able to claim your prize at one of the 15 NY Lottery Regional Customer Service Centers or by mail.

If you had won more than US$ 500,000 or a Sweet Million Lottery top prize – you could, once again, claim at one of the NY Lottery Regional Customer Service Centers and your claim will then be sent to the Prize Payment Unit in Schenectady.
