Mega Millions Missouri – Mega Millions MO
The Missouri Lottery is 1 of 46 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Mega Millions game – in this case the Missouri Mega Millions – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.
The Mega Millions is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run and operated by the Mega Millions Consortium – who administer and syndicate the game across the U.S.A. and is one of the largest lottery games in the world – having produced a massive world record jackpot of an incredible US$ 656 MILLION in March 2012. This staggering amount was split between 3 Mega Millions winning tickets from Illinois, Kansas and Maryland and currently ranks as the 2nd biggest jackpot ever won to date in the history of lottery jackpot games throughout the world.
The very first Mega Millions draw took place on May 17th 2002 with 6 USA Lottery companies taking part who were all members of the Mega Millions Consortium.
The game had changed its name and format from the Big Game which had first started back on August 31st 1996. Upon this change – 2 further State Lottery companies joined and more would follow.
The MO Mega Millions was first sold on January 31st 2010 when the Multi State Lottery Association (MUSL) who run the Powerball game – of which the Missouri Lottery is a member – entered into a cross-selling agreement with the Mega Millions consortium – allowing the sales of Mega Millions in Powerball states and Powerball in Mega Millions states.
MO Mega Millions – How it Works
The Missouri Mega Millions works in exactly the same way as the Mega Millions game works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 MILLION and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – making for some enormous jackpot figures.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the MO Mega Millions from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers from 70 white balls are drawn and then 1 number (the MEGAball) from 25 gold balls (Megaballs) are drawn.
Draws for the Missouri Lottery Mega Millions take place twice every week on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10.00pm CST (11.00pm EST).
In addition to the 6 Mega Millions numbers drawn – a further number is drawn – using a Random Number Generator…the Mega Millions MEGAPLIER number…
MEGAPLIER…
This separate MEGAPLIER prize multiplier number drawn will be either 2, 3, 4 or 5 – and is there to give players of the Mega Millions Missouri a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the MO Mega Millions jackpot itself.
With MEGAPLIER – you are able to multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x – greatly increasing the amount you can walk away with.
If a player matches the 5 main Mega Millions numbers playing with the MEGAPLIER add-on – and a MEGAPLIER number of 5 is drawn – the second tier prize of US$ 1 MILLION would be multiplied by x5 and they would win US$ 5 MILLION.
MO Mega Millions – How to Play
The aim when you are playing is to correctly select as many of the Mega Millions winning numbers as possible – and with a grand total of 9 separate ways in which you can win on the MO Mega Millions – you have a great chance of winning a prize.
There are principally – 4 different ways that you are able to play the Mega Millions Missouri…
1. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 70 plus your 1 Mega Ball (gold ball) number from 1 to 25.
2. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 70 and use the Quick Pick option to let the computer choose your Mega Ball (gold ball) number for you from 1 to 25 using a lotto number selector / random number generator.
3. Use the Quick Pick option to let the computer pick your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 70 using a random number generator – and then pick your own Mega Ball (gold ball) number from 1 to 25.
4. Use the Quick Pick option available to let the computer choose both your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 70 and also your 1 Mega Ball (gold ball) number from 1 to 25 using its random number generator.

MEGAPLIER…
For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your Missouri Mega Millions winnings on all levels except the jackpot – by adding the MEGAPLIER option when playing the MO Mega Millions.
If your chosen Missouri Lottery Mega Millions numbers match the Mega Millions winning numbers on any of these prize levels – you increase your winnings immediately by either 2, 3, 4 or 5 times – depending on what Mega Millions MEGAPLIER number was drawn.

MO Mega Millions Winners
Even though the Missouri Lottery has only been selling Mega Millions tickets since January 31st 2010 – there have already been some Missouri Lottery Mega Millions big winners.
The biggest win to date on the MO Mega Millions was won by Wilma Elam from Conway on March 2nd 2010 when she struck lucky with the 5 main Mega Millions winning numbers and scooped US$ 750,000.

MO Mega Millions – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won a Missouri Mega Millions jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this life-changing choice within 60 days from the date of the draw.
If you choose the annuity option – your Missouri Mega Millions winnings will be paid to you annually over a 30 year period.
For all prizes on the Mega Millions Missouri – you have 180 days maximum from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your Mega Millions ticket will become invalid.
If your win on the MO Mega Millions is less than US$ 600 – you should be able to claim your winnings at most Missouri Lottery retailers and also from Missouri Lottery offices or by mail.
If you’ve had a win of more than US$ 600 on the MO Mega Millions– you will need to complete an MO Lottery winners claim form and claim your prize at one of the Missouri Lottery offices or by mail.
If you are the lucky winner of a Missouri Mega Millions jackpot – you will need to make your claim at an MOLottery office.
