Louisiana Lottery Powerball
The Louisiana Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball game – in this case the Louisiana Powerball – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.

Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and rollover after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by a minimum of US$ 10 Million each time – making for some enormous jackpots.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the LA Powerball game from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers from 69 white balls are drawn followed by 1 number (the powerball) from 26 red balls.
Draws for the Louisiana Powerball Lottery take place twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.59pm CST (10.59pm EST).

POWERPLAY…

Louisiana Powerball – Record Jackpots
To date, the largest Powerball jackpot ever won in Louisiana was the amazing US$ 97 Million won by Carl Hunter from Metairie in January 2008.
On July 31st 2010 an LA Powerball jackpot of US$ 85.7 Million was won by the H & N Family Partnership which was made up of 11 eleven family members from Baton Rouge. This still stands as the 2nd largest Louisiana Power Ball jackpot win so far.
The 3rd largest Louisiana Power Ball jackpot to be won to date was back in March 2002 when Jerry Berggren and Cathy DeMuynck from Kenner, LA won a fantastic US$ 48.1 Million.
A US$ 34.1 Million jackpot was won on May 31st 2008 on the Powerball Louisiana by Emilia Delgado – a neo-natal intensive care nurse from Kenner – the 4th biggest to have been won in Louisiana Power Ball history.
Louisiana Powerball – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won an LA Powerball jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this choice within 60 days of the date of your claim.
If you choose the annuity option – your LA Powerball winnings will be paid to you in 30 installments over a 29 year period.
For all prizes on the Powerball Louisiana – you have 180 days from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your Powerball ticket will become invalid.
If your win on the Louisiana Powerball Lottery is up to US$ 600 – you should be able to claim your winnings at most Louisiana Lottery retailers, lottery offices or by mail.
If you’ve had a win of more than US$ 600 on the Powerball Louisiana you can claim your prize at any of the LALottery regional offices – New Orleans, Lafayette, Alexandria, Monroe and Shreveport – or by mail.
If you have won more than US$ 510,000 on the Powerball Louisiana you will to make your claim at the Baton Rouge Headquarters of the Louisiana Lottery Corporation.
