Powerball Kansas – Kansas Lottery Powerball
The Kansas Lottery is 1 of 47 USA State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the US Powerball game – in this case, the Kansas Powerball – as part of its portfolio of KS Lottery games.
Powerball is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run by the Multi State Lottery Association – MUSL – who administer and syndicate the game across the majority of the USA and is one of the largest lottery games in the world. The Kansas Powerball was first sold on April 22nd 1992 taking part in the very first Powerball draw – since the Kansas Lottery was one of the original 6 members who formed the MUSL back on September 16th 1987.
KS Powerball – How it Works
The Kansas Powerball works in the same way as the Powerball game works in all states and districts in the US offering the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and rollover after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by a minimum of US$ 10 Million each time – making for some huge jackpot figures.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the Kansas Power Ball game from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers are drawn from 69 white balls followed by 1 number (the POWERball) from 26 red balls.
Kansas Powerball Lottery draws take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.59pm CST (10.59pm EST).
There is also a Powerball prize multiplier option available when playing which dramatically increases the size of a Kansas Power Ball win and is called Powerball POWERPLAY...

The Powerball POWERPLAY option is a prize multiplier and will automatically increase the Powerball win by up to 10 times the original amount – and is there to give players of the Kansas Powerball a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the KS Powerball jackpot itself.
With Powerball POWER PLAY – you are very easily able to multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and if the jackpot is no more than US$ 150 Million – even 10x – greatly increasing the size of win you will walk away with,
All 2nd prize wins of US$ 1 Million will be automatically doubled to US$ 2 Million no matter what PowerPlay has been drawn.
KS Powerball – How to Play
The aim when playing is to correctly select as many Powerball winning numbers as possible – and with 9 different ways in which you can win on the Kansas Powerball Lottery – you have a great chance of winning a prize.
There are generally 4 ways that you can play the KS Powerball…
1. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 69 plus your 1 Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 26.
2. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 69 and use the Quick Pick option to let the computer choose your Power Ball (red ball) number for you from 1 to 26 – using a computer powered random number generator.
3. Use the Quick Pick option to let the computer pick your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 69 using a random number generator – and then select your own Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 26.
4. Use the Quick Pick option to let the computer choose both your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 69 and also your 1 Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 26 using its random number generator.

POWERPLAY…
For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your Kansas Powerball Lottery winnings on all levels except the jackpot – by including the Powerball POWER PLAY option when you are playing the KS Powerball.
If your chosen Kansas Powerball numbers match the Powerball winning numbers on any of these prize levels – you immediately increase your winnings by either 2, 3, 4, 5 or – if the jackpot has not yet reached US$ 150 Million – even right up to 10 times.

KS Powerball – Who Can Play?

KS Powerball – Record Jackpots
The biggest jackpot win on the Kansas Powerball to date has been the stunning sum of US$ 96.6 Million won by Donald Damon from Great Bend, KS on November 11th 2009.
The 2nd biggest amount won so far on the Kansas Powerball has been the fantastic US$ 50 Million won on December 19th 2012 by a rsident of Johnson County who wished to remain anonymous.
March 2000 saw the joint 2nd largest win on the Kansas Power Ball when – the biggest at the time – when 26 work colleagues from American Airlines in Tulsa, OK won a similar US$ 50 Million which was one third of a US$ 150 Million advertised jackpot.
For the 3rd biggest KS Powerball jackpot win to date we have to go all the way back to September 1995 when US$ 31.2 Million was won by Pat Dreiling from Manhattan.
US$ 26.5 Million stands as the 4th largest Kansas Power Ball win so far when Mary Ann Bowles from Wichita won a very nice US$ 26.5 Million.
The 5th biggest jackpot win on the Kansas Powerball to datee occurred when Felix Kane from Gardner won US$ 22.5 Million in May 1994.
The 6th largest Kansas Power Ball jackpot win to date has been the big win of Lois Hampton from Olathe, Kansas in October 1994 of US$ 20.9 Million.
The 7th biggest Kansas Power Ball jackpot win to date was in fact the very first Kansas Lottery Powerball jackpot – US$ 17.6 Million won in March 1993 by John Towse from Gardner.
Another Olathe resident – Alden Oldsen – has the honour of having won the 8th biggest Kansas Powerball jackpot so far having struck lucky with a US$ 15.1 Million win back in September 1996.
On September 27th 2006 the 9th biggest Kansas Powerball jackpot to date was won when a Topeka Government worker scooped the US$ 15 Million top prize. This lucky winner wished to remain anonymous.
The 10th largest Kansas Power Ball jackpot win so far has been the US$ 12.2 million that won by Randy Frye from Wichita back in October 1993.
KS Powerball – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won a Kansas Power Ball jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this choice within 60 days from the date your winning ticket is validated.
If you choose the annuity option – your Kansas Powerball winnings will be paid to you in 30 payments over a 29 year period.
For all prizes on the KS Power Ball – you will have 365 days from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your Powerball ticket will become invalid.
If your win on the Kansas Powerball Lottery is up to US$ 599 – you should be able to claim your winnings at most Kansas State Lottery retailers no matter where your ticket was purchased.
If you’ve had a win between US$ 600 to US$ 5,000 on the KS Powerball – you will need to complete a claim form and claim your prize either at the Great Bend regional Kansas Lottery office or the Kansas State Lottery Headquarters in Topeka.
If you have won a KS Powerball prize of more than US$ 5,000 – you will need to mail your ticket or take it personally to a KSLottery office.
