Kentucky Lottery Powerball – Powerball KY
The Kentucky Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball game – in this case the Kentucky Powerball – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.
Powerball is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run by the Multi State Lottery Association – MUSL – who run and syndicate the game across the USA and is one of the largest lottery games in the world having produced the biggest ever jackpot the world has seen on January 13th 2016 with an outstanding US$ 1.586 BILLION – more than doubling the existing March 2012 record Mega Millions jackpot.

The KY Powerball began operations on April 22nd 1992 when the Powerball was launched – as the Kentucky Lottery was already a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) – having become the 15th state to join on January 10th 1991.
Kentucky Powerball – How it Works
The Kentucky Powerball works in the same way as the Powerball game works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and rollover after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by a minimum of US$ 10 Million each time – making for some huge jackpot sums.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the KY Powerball game from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers from 69 white balls are drawn and then 1 number (the Powerball) from 26 red balls.
Draws for the Kentucky Powerball Lottery take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.59pm CST (10.59pm EST).
There is also a Powerball prize multiplier facility available when playing that dramatically increases the size of a Powerball win and is called Powerball POWERPLAY...

The aim when playing is to correctly select as many Powerball winning numbers as possible – and with 9 different ways in which you can win on the Kentucky Powerball – you have a great chance of winning a prize.
There are principally 4 ways you can play the KY Powerball…
1. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 69 plus your 1 Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 26.

POWERPLAY…
For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your Kentucky Powerball Lottery winnings on all levels except the jackpot – by adding the Powerball POWER PLAY option when you are playing the KY Powerball.

Kentucky Powerball – Record Jackpots
The biggest jackpot ever won to date on the Kentucky Powerball happened on December 26th 2009 when lucky couple Ron and Tuesday Anderson from Georgetown struck gold with a massive US$ 128.6 Million.
Prior to this – the last winner of a KY Powerball jackpot had been Linville Lee Huff from Shepherdsville who won a very healthy jackpot of US$ 33.6 Million in December 12th 2007.
Also in 2007 a US$ 61.5 Million jackpot was won on the Kentucky Lottery Power Ball by the "Nukote 22" on September 26th. The "Nukote 22" were a group of staff – both present and former – from Nukote International in Bardstown.
The previous KY Power Ball jackpot record was created back in January 1996 when a huge US$ 89.3 Million was won.
Kentucky Powerball – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won a KY Power Ball jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this choice within 60 days of the date of your claim.
If you choose the annuity option – your Kentucky Power Ball Lottery winnings will be paid to you in 30 payments over a 29 year period.
For all prizes on the KY Powerball Lottery – you will have up to 180 days from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your Powerball ticket will become invalid.
If your win on the KY Lottery Powerball is up to US$ 600 – you will be able to claim your winnings at any KYLottery retailer.
If you’ve had a win of between US$ 600 & US$ 5,000 on the KY Lottery Power Ball – you will be able to claim your prize from a Kentucky Lottery cashing agent or by mailing your claim form & ticket to the Kentucky Lottery Corportion.
If you have won between US$ 5,001 & US$ 25,000 on the KY Power Ball Lottery – you can claim your prize from certain Kentucky Lottery regional offices.
