There are various games offered by the Israel National Lottery including Hishgad, 123, Chance, Shitati 777, Keno and the lottery that we will be taking a closer look at here…the Israel Lottery - New Lotto…
Israeli Lottery – New Lotto - Overview
The New Lotto in Israel is a traditional, jackpot style, draw type lottery game which is incredibly popular amongst the citizens of Israel.
The Israeli Lottery has a jackpot which starts at NIS 4 million and will increase each draw by rolling over when it is not won and being added onto the top prize figure for the next draw. The 2nd level of prize on the New Lotto begins at a minimum of NIS ½ million and unusually among most lottery games, with the Israeli Lottery, this 2nd prize division also jackpots.
The New Lotto has one of the lowest number pools in all the world’s lotteries, with just 37 numbers to choose from. Having such a low number pool naturally increases your chances of winning as there are less numbers to choose from and a higher chance of picking the correct numbers.
How It Works…
The Israeli Lottery – New Lotto game uses what’s called a double matrix of 6/37 + 1/7 which means that when playing the Israel New Lotto, you need to select 6 numbers out of a range of numbers from 1 to 37 and one bonus number from a range of numbers from 1 to 7..
Firstly, the 6 main numbers will be drawn out of a pool of numbers from 1 to 37 and then a 7th number will be drawn. This extra number is known as either the Chazak Number or the Strong Number – Chazak is Hebrew for Strong. It is the Israeli version of the Bonus Number or Powerball.
If you match all 6 of the main numbers drawn plus the Chazak Number (or Strong Number) then you will be a winner of a first division prize – the New Lotto jackpot.
As well as the jackpot itself, there are 7 further ways in which you can win on the Israeli New Lotto, which means that are a large number of prizes to be won twice every week if you play this game.
A “Random” facility is also available when playing the Israel Lottery – New Lotto -very much the same as the “Lucky Dip” option that is used in the UK National Lottery and Europe’s Euro-Millions or the “Quick Pick” on nearly all USA lottery games – which means that you can ask the lottery retailer or computer to randomly select all your Israel Lotto numbers for you.
So, playing the New Lotto is easy…just select your own 6 numbers or choose the random number generator method by asking the retailer or computer to automatically generate the numbers for you.
Draws for the Israeli Lottery take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 10.55pm Jerusalem time and you can easily check the New Lotto results online.
Who Can Play?
As with most lotteries around the world, previously only citizens living in Israel itself were allowed to play in any of the Israel Lottery games including the Israel New Lotto - you used to have to purchase your Lottery tickets from an authorized retailer based in Israel.
Today, though, this is not a concern as there are a good number of online lottery ticket sales companies such as TheLotter who are both authorized and genuine - you are able to select your New Lotto numbers online and purchase your tickets no matter where in the world you live.
This is good news of course if you live outside of Israel and want to play the Israel Lotto and ensure your entry into the next draw or simply want to have the convenience and ease of being able to buy lottery tickets online.
Once you have entered into the New Lotto draw, you can then easily check the Israel Lottery results online to see how you have done and find out if you have become one of the lucky New Lotto winners.
You will need to be 18 years of age to be eligible to purchase a ticket for any of the Israeli Lottery games including the New Lotto.

What Are The Odds?
The odds of winning on the Israel Lotto are very competitive when compared to many lotteries around the world and with 8 different ways in which you can win twice per week, this makes for a lot of prizes to be won.
The chances of winning an Israel New Lotto jackpot by matching the 6 main numbers plus the Chazak Number/Strong Number are 1 in 18.59 million – for these odds you could be one of the Israeli New Lotto jackpot winners.
For one of the prizes in the second division, the odds come in at 1 in 2.65 million for matching 6 of the main numbers drawn.

For a prize on the seventh division, the odds are 1 in only 207 for matching just 3 of the main numbers plus the Chazak Number/Strong Number and for the final prize level – the eighth division – the odds are just 1 in 30 for matching only 3 of the main numbers drawn.
The overall odds of winning a prize on the Israeli Lottery are a very good 1 in just 18.8.
Record Jackpots…
On Saturday October 27th 2007, the record was broken for the highest single ticket jackpot won on the Israeli Lottery when a lucky winner scooped NIS 16 million on the Israel Lotto, winning the entire prize.
How Are Jackpots Paid?
If you are the lucky winner of an Israel New Lotto jackpot, you will be paid your winnings in the form of a cash lump sum. All Israeli Lottery prizes are, in fact, paid out as cash lump sums.
Prior to July 1st 2003, there was no tax to pay on Israel Lottery winnings – since that date, however, a new ruling meant that there is some tax incurred on national lottery winnings.
The good news here though is that there is no tax to pay if you have won anything on the New Lotto up to NIS 54,959.
Of course, if you play lottery online you will not have to be concerened with any of these details as your accredited lottery ticket sales organization such as TheLotter will be taking care of everything for you.
How Israel Benefits…
Israel and its people benefit in a great many ways from revenue generated by the Israel National Lottery. In fact, over 95% of the money raised by Mifal Hapayis by the Israel Lottery goes back to the community in some way.
Many different community projects have been beneficiaries of National Lottery revenue, including areas of health, welfare, education, culture and art.
Lottery proceeds have financed the establishment of kindergartens and schools, community centers, various clinics, senior citizen day care facilities, geriatric centers and metropolitan centers for art and culture.
Since the Israel National Lottery began in 1951, Mifal Hapayis has invested over NIS 20 billion in the areas mentioned above.
