Powerball DC – DC Power Ball
The DC Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball lottery game – in this case the DC Lottery Powerball – as part of its overall range of lotto games.

DC Powerball – How it Works
The DC Powerball works in the same way as the Powerball game works in all US States and Districts that offer the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and rollover after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by a minimum of US$ 10 Million each time – making for some huge jackpot figures.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the DC Powerball game from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers from 69 white balls are drawn and then 1 number (the Powerball) from 26 red balls.
Draws for the DC Lottery Powerball take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10.59pm EST.

Using the Powerball POWER PLAY option – you are easily able to multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and when the jackpot has not reached US$ 150 Million – even 10x – dramatically enhancing the amount you will walk away with.
Whatever PowerPlay number may have been drawn – any Powerball 2nd prize of US$ 1 Million will automatically be doubled to US$ 2 Million if played with Powerball Power Play.
DC Powerball – How to Play
The aim when playing is to correctly select as many Powerball winning numbers as possible – and with 9 different ways in which you can win on the Washington DC Lottery Power Ball – you have a great chance of winning a prize.
There are mainly 4 ways that you can play the Powerball DC…
1. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 69 plus your 1 Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 26.
2. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 69 and use the Quick Pick option to let the computer choose your Power Ball (red ball) number for you from 1 to 26 – using a comouter powered random number generator.
3. Use the Quick Pick option to let the computer pick your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 69 using a random number generator – and then choose your own Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 26.

POWERPLAY…
For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your DC Powerball lottery winnings on all levels except the jackpot itself – by adding the Powerball Power Play option when you are playing the Power Ball DC.
If your chosen DC Powerball numbers match the Powerball winning numbers on any of these 8 prize levels – you will then immediately increase your winnings by either 2, 3, 4, 5 or – if the jackpot is less than US$ 150 Million – even right up to 10 times.

DC Powerball – Record Jackpots
The largest ever DC Power Ball lotto jackpot won to date has been the US$ 144 Million Powerball jackpot on April 8th 2009 – claimed by Rockson LLC representing an 82 year old District resident.
The winning ticket was bought from Giant Foods, 1525 Alabama Avenue, S.E. and was the 11th Powerball jackpot to be won in the District of Columbia and the winner elected to receive the lump sum payment of US$ 79.6 Million.
DC Powerball – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won a DC Powerball jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this choice within 60 days of making your claim.
If you choose the annuity option – your DC Lottery Power Ball winnings will be paid to you in 30 installments over a 29 year period.
If your win on the DC Power Ball is up to US$ 599.50 – you will be able to claim your winnings at any Washington DC Lottery retailer or at the DCLottery Claim Center in Washington or by mail.
If you’ve had a win of more than US$ 600 on the DC Power Ball – you will need to claim your prize at the DCLottery Claim Center in Washington.
